April 26, 2017

This past month was the annual period of members rolling up their sleeves, taking everything out of the trucks, cleaning every square inch, putting everything back in the trucks and getting ready for the white glove inspection. The last four Monday night drills, and many other hours in between, were devoted to making all the apparatus and firehouse look the best it can be. This wasn't just a time for cleaning, but a time to carefully go over all elements of the trucks in order to ensure everything is in top working order. And this is all to get ready for the Annual Inspection Dinner.

The many hours spent and efforts put in, all culminated in this past Saturday's dinner. An evening put on and ran by the membership, for the membership, is a time to recognize great achievements, honor those answering their last call, and to celebrate each other's hard work with the neighboring departments and agencies. In addition to the top five responders, Firefighter of the Year, and inspection best apparatus, all listed below, other special achievements were recognized.

John Waldie Gullen was recognized by both the department and Westchester County, for his 75 plus years of service to the department, community and his country. In order to recognize his service, April 23rd was declared 'Waldie Gullen Day' in Westchester County. The coveted President's Award went out to Ex-Chief Kevin Andros for his above and beyond non-firematic support and service for the department. Members were also happy to welcome home Firefighter Gabe Frolick, who was back in town for the week on a short leave from the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne.

The department would like to congratulate all the members for their hard work and dedication over the past few weeks getting everything ready and for their commitment over the past year to the department and the community. Special congratulations to the Rescue Company for their win and to Firefighter Scott Schoenberg achieving the dual status of top responder and Firefighter of the Year!
