Shortly before 4:00pm, Friday, March 16th, South Salem Fire was dispatched along with Lewisboro VAC and Westchester Medic Two to a reported motor vehicle accident, car vs. school bus at Route 35 and North Salem Rd. (Route 121).
As Car 2451 responded from the firehouse he was notified that the bus was occupied by eight students with unknown injuries. Arriving on scene, Car 2451 updated the location of the incident to Route 35 at the intersection of Adams Hill Road, and confirmed a head-on collision, car vs. school bus. Rescue 21, Engine 167, Utility 79 quickly responded and arrived on scene. Initial tasks were to stabilize both vehicles and begin triage of the twelve patients. Route 35 was closed and traffic diverted around the scene by fire police. Additional ambulances were called in from both Vista FD and Katonah-Bedford Hills VAC. A total of twelve patients, four adult and eight children, were divided amongst the four ambulances, with many of the students being transported as a precaution due to the severity of the impact.
South Salem FD cleared the scene and reopened Route 35 one hour after initial dispatch.

The professionalism of the many emergency response agencies working together lead to a very organized and fluid scene. I would like to thank all involved.
