Nicholas "Nick" Leavy Jr., 69, of South Salem, NY, died on Friday, August 7, 2009 at Danbury Hospital. Nick was born in Danbury, January 11, 1940, son of the late Nicholas Sr. and Stella (Filipek) Leavy. He attended Danbury schools and graduated in the Class of 1957.
Mr. Leavy, was the former owner and operator of Leavy Window Cleaning of South Salem, NY, a family owned business established by his father and currently owned and operated by his sons, Stephen and Don Leavy. In 2002, Mr. Leavy retired and enjoyed his children and grandchildren and liked to travel and play golf.
Mr. Leavy was a Life member and former Assistant Chief of the South Salem Volunteer Fire Department and was often seen driving their antique fire truck in numerous parades. He was a member of the Free Mason Jerusalem Lodge #49 of Ridgefield, as well as the Kisco Lodge #708 of Mt. Kisco, NY. Mr. Leavy served as Master of Kisco Lodge in 1971 during their 100-year celebration. He continued his Masonic affiliation by joining Pyramid Shrine Temple in Milford, CT and was also a member of the Lewisboro Seniors and former member the Lewisboro Lions.
Nick's primary interest and passion was the stock market and was very knowledgeable about it. His many friends often asked him for investment advice. He had an interest in real estate and held his New York Real Estate license for many years.
Surviving are five children (and their spouses), Stephen (Melissa) Leavy of South Salem, NY, Don (Wanda) Leavy of Ridgefield, Julie (Bill) Gibbs of Southington, CT, Bonnie Leavy-Mello (Steven Mello) of Ridgefield and Jeanne (Allen) Cote of Terryville, CT; a sister, Zena Taylor of Walkill, NY, eleven grandchildren (Sarah and Stephen Leavy, Tracy and Kelly Leavy, Allan and Andrew Gibbs, Ted and Lauren Mello, and Allison, Bryan and Heather Cote; a great grandchild Kayeigh Cote), a niece, Nike Taylor and nephew, Douglas Taylor

He is also survived by his long-time partner, caregiver and best friend, Patricia Linabury of Danbury and her three children, David (Karen) Linabury of Lunenberg, MA, Mark (Phyllis) Linabury of St. Augustine, FL, and Monica Linabury of El Cerrito, CA and four grandchildren, Dale, Ryan, Sarah and Jake Linabury.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his former wife, Alma (Voitko) Leavy, a brother in law, Richard Taylor, a son of his long-time partner, Peter Linabury.

The family will receive friends in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Friday from 5PM to 8PM. A Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, August 15th at 11am in the Jesse Lee Memorial United Methodist Church, 207 Main St., Ridgefield followed by a Celebration of Life at the South Salem Fire Department, Route 35, South Salem, NY.
