On Monday September 14, South Salem Firefighters continued their bail-out system training using a newly built training window at the firehouse. During the last month the South Salem Fire District has been constructing a training window on the north side of the firehouse. The window was built into a side stairwell approximately 2 stories high with removable sashes for ease of training. Firefighters conducted multiple bail-out exercises which included the use of air packs and having their face pieces blacked out. It is anticipated that over the next few months all interior firefighters of the department will receive this training and qualify on the bail out system. The construction of this window will also provide a platform for many other training opportunities and will serve the department well in the future.

The South Salem Fire Department would like to thank the Commissioners of the Fire District for implementing this new training window. Their commitment to training has improved the safety of South Salem Firefighters which in turn will improve the quality of service provided to the community.
