On Sunday, May 23, 2010 the South Salem Fire Department competed in the 3rd Annual J.I.M.M.Y. Muster held at Firemen's Field in Somers, NY. The muster involved teams from local volunteer fire departments as well as area Explorer Posts competing in firematic events such as tug-o-war, midnight alarm, bucket brigade and hose roll.

The South Salem team got off to a great start by achieving first place in the tug-o-war after beating Yorktown Fire Department in the finals. The team was able to continue its momentum by achieving first place in the hose roll competition along with first place in the bucket brigade. The day's friendly competition culminated in South Salem winning "Best Overall" for the second straight year.

The J.I.M.M.Y. Muster is a fundraising event benefiting the J.I.M.M.Y. (Just Imagine Making Miracles Yours) Fund which was founded in memory of James "Jimmyboy" Arena and raises money to help families in our area with children with life threatening disease and/or injuries.
