Structure Fire on Truesdale Lake Drive
By 2nd Assistant Chief Mike Davison
February 21, 2025
At 4:20pm on Friday, February 21st, the South Salem Fire Department was called to a residence on Truesdale Lake Dr. for a reported structure fire. Upon arrival, car 2451 reported a chimney fire with extension to the roof of a 20x40 single story residential home. The 10-75 (1st alarm) was called shortly after, which brings in mutual aid departments from the surrounding areas.
Engine 166 arrived [16:30] on scene and stretched hose lines to the structure and began fire suppression operations. The fire was able to be knocked down quickly by the first arriving units within 15 minutes from time of dispatch. While many mutual aid units were returned to service, crews from Croton Falls assisted in roof operations to track down and contain pockets of fire buried within the double roof system. The fire was placed under control at 5:04pm.
Thank you to all the mutual aid departments that responded.
