Mutual Aid to Ridgefield CT
By 2nd Assistant Chief Mike Davison
March 8, 2025
On the afternoon of Saturday, March 8th, the South Salem Fire Department was called to 28 Old Salem Rd in Ridgefield Connecticut to assist in fighting a structure fire at a nearly 9,000sf home. Due to its location close to the South Salem border, the Ridgefield Fire Department requested mutual aid Tankers, Engines and additional manpower to respond for water supply and fire suppression operations.
Upon arrival, there was heavy fire coming from the west end of the roof and quickly spreading due to the intense wind gusts. Crews from Ridgefield, Wilton, Georgetown and Danbury worked to knock down the blaze while crews from South Salem, Vista and Croton Falls worked to lay in large diameter supply hose from a nearby hydrant and to provide manpower to the scene. The fire was brought under control in roughly four hours from the time of dispatch.
